Recent medical studies have suggested that upwards to 75% of professional instrumental musicians have experienced some form of playing-related injury that affected their ability to play or perform during the course of their career. One of the most common forms of injury is due to repetitive stress/overuse. While this type of injury can take many forms, there are several simple steps you can take to decrease your chances of injury and prolong your professional career.
With this workshop you will:
- Increase your understanding of overuse injuries and how they develop
- Know what to do if you start to notice pain
- Learn practice tips and tricks to avoid overuse injuries
- Improve body awareness and posture
- Develop warm-up techniques to help reduce muscle strain
Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in some light stretching and other activities, so please dress comfortably
