In 2012, 17-year old Trayvon Martin was killed while walking in an upscale neighborhood in Florida. He is joined by a long line of unarmed young black men murdered in this country. In her haunting drama, playwright Thais Francis creates a dream turned nightmare in which she weaves together the voice of Trayvon Martin with the voices of other victims of race-based violence: Emmett Till, Amadou Diallo and Sean Bell. Through humor, love, compassion and pain we journey with these characters and witness what happens when cries for justice are not heard.
The play debuted last May at New York University, was produced at Horse Trade Theater in September for a sold out run, and is happening for the 3rd time at JACK in Brooklyn.
