The George Washington University and the Office of Technology Transfer

are pleased to invite you to the

OTT Open House & Innovation Competition!


The GW Office of Technology Transfer is hosting its second annual Open House to showcase promising, impactful GW research that has commercial potential. The event provides a forum for idea sharing between researchers, entrepreneurs, and members of the venture community. A $10,000 prize for technology development will go to the top idea.



Poster and Networking Session | 1:00 - 2:00pm       

GW researchers with technologies available for licensing will present in poster format. A panel of experienced entrepreneurs, investors, and industry professionals will judge the commercialization potential of each technology. The top three technologies will advance to the Innovation Competition.


Seminar: Innovative Technology Commercialization | 2:00 - 2:30pm       

Those interested in increasing the impact of GW research can attend this seminar to learn more about activities and programs that help translate research into products. The session will also highlight examples of GW technologies that are currently under development.

We are pleased to have Jim Chung speak about funding opportunities and the commercialization of technologies. Jim will highlight the new NSF I-Corps Node at GW which teaches grantees to identify valuable product opportunities that can emerge from academic research. The program also offers entrepreneurship training to student participants.

Innovation Competition | 2:30 - 4:00pm       

The top three technologies from the poster session will have 10 minutes to pitch their technology to the judges. The best pitch will win $10,000 for development of a prototype or proof-of-concept.

GW Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) promotes and facilitates the transfer of GW innovations for the benefit of the university community and the public while leveraging GW resources through partnering with industry experts and entrepreneurs.

We are the bridge between in-house laboratory research and companies, entrepreneurs, and investors.  Our primary aim is to connect university researchers with business enterprises, entrepreneurs, and unique external resources.  OTT oversees all aspects of technology commercialization at GW.
