A Training & Development veteran for 35+ years, Jim Knight facilitates on a variety of interactive topics, including sessions around organizational culture, world-class service, employee branding, performance management, philanthropy, facilitation training, leadership skills and his approach to corporate universities.
Jim cut his teeth in the training field through the Hospitality industry, starting out as a restaurant staff-level employee for Olive Garden and Hard Rock Cafe. He eventually became the head of the School of Hard Rocks, running point on all training & development functions for Hard Rock International.

The “Adoption” of Social Media
When a birth mother puts their child up for adoption in Florida, they are typically asked to screen the prospective adoptive parents and then ultimately choose the family. In this very unique session, Roger Lear will take you through his personal journey of the adoption process (as and adoptee and as a parent with an adopted son). Birth mothers (“angels”) have enormous pressure to find parents who will raise their baby. Adoption agencies and lawyers have to screen and present potential parents to the birth mother. The role social media plays in this process can be the difference maker determining what prospective parents get a child. Maybe not as life changing as the adoption of a baby, the role social media plays in who you hire can also be a defining factor for a prospective candidate. In either situation, big decisions are being made based sometimes on nothing else but what your Facebook page looks like. You will leave this session with a great understanding of the adoption process, insight on how social media screening and recruiting may be hurting your organization and a list of social media recruiting initiatives that are working at other companies.
