The Museum of Russian Art presents Life on the Edge of the Forest: Russian Traditions in Wood. The exhibition will explore the theme of the forest in Russian culture, focusing on the rich traditions of woodcarving. For the first time on display in an American museum, are unique examples of ornamental window surrounds produced by talented carpenters in rural communities of central Russia, the Urals, and Siberia. Also included are carved wooden tools from peasant households, furniture, paintings and other works of art.
