Event Details

Tonight we kick off the festival with a collection of films that are unique and full of surprises. These films focus on a single unexpected event, from a young girl’s sassy rebellion to the unexpected death of a father. Our opening night program features a diverse group of productions spanning the globe from Colombia, Denmark, India, Germany, Mexico, and the US - don’t miss it!

BORREGUITO – Dir: Antonino Isordia –  NARRATIVE - 0:10:00 – MEXICO

A story about violence, a brutal relationship interrupted when the rebellion of a being who, by definition should be docile, confronts the abuse

TWINTAPES – REVERSE – Dir: Otto Rivera – MUSIC VIDEO – 00:04:19 – USA

A teenage girl wakes up in the midst of an emotional journey, and is dealing with the consequences of her past actions. She is undecided and thinking of the possibility of her actions.

THE LEPIDOCTOR – Dir: Jonathan Barenboim – NARRATIVE – 0:19:59 – USA

The Lepidoctor centers around an eccentric, Baxter, who is obsessed with collecting and fixing strange gadgets. The recent death of his mother has taught him that some things cannot be repaired. In coping with his loss, Baxter becomes withdrawn. That is until one day while visiting a museum, Baxter comes across an exhibit made of thousands of dead butterflies. The crude manner in which the butterflies were pinned to the wall shakes Baxter to his core. Armed with his childish wit, naïve courage, and a Victorian set of surgical instruments, Baxter embarks on a monumental journey that will help him accept the loss of his mother, reconnect with his father, and avenge the death of the butterflies.

GOOD MEN – Dir: Brian Connors – NARRATIVE - 0:12:00 – USA

A 12 minute short film starring Ed Asner and Mark Rydell as two elderly Jewish men who are long time friends and colleagues. On an afternoon before an Oscar party, Asner and Rydell get into a serious argument about The Holocaust, Conspiracy Allegations and The 9/11 attacks on The World Trade Center.

SALOMÉ – Dir: Laura Mora – Narrative - 0:16:36 – COLOMBIA

This is the story of Salome's mourning. It's the 16th of July Virgin Del Carmen's day, and Salome a beautiful 14-year-old girl is celebrating the first anniversary of her beloved father's death. While everybody is partying, her Grief contrasts with the festivity environment, forcing her to confront her pain, her own believes, her myths and even her most precious childhood memories and illusions to be able to understand imminent death and finally get some closure.

INTERVIEW – Dir: Sebastian Marka – Narrative – 0:19:11 – GERMANY

A one-room situation thriller between a journalist and a serial killer.
