Wednesday Night Open Mic! A Busboys and  Poetry Event   For two hours audiences can expect a diverse chorus of voices and a vast array of professional spoken word performers, open mic rookies, musicians and a different host every week.

Sarah Lawsonsarah d. lawson is the founder and slammaster of the beltway poetry slam in washington, dc. she can be found teaching writing workshops throughout the city, sharing rough drafts on open mics and hosting at Busboys & Poets 5th and K. she has served on the board of mothertongue, DC's women's spoken word group, and was a member of the jenny mckean moore writing workshop in poetry at the george washington university. sarah is coach of the madeira poetry club, which placed second in DC's louder than a bomb teen poetry competition. she was also a member of DC's team treat yo self, which ranked 5th at the 2012 southern fried poetry slam. she hates capital letters & loves hugs.


Slam Nahauti

Slam Nahuatl is a performance poetry collective based in Richmond Virginia, dedicated to uplifting the community through creativity. Members of the VCU branch, Rob Gibsun, Saidu Tejan-Thomas and Joshua Braunstein are currently the 3rd ranked College Unions Poetry Slam Team in the Nation, and recently opened for international recording artist Lianne La Havas at DC’s prestigious9:30 Club. Known for their dynamic group pieces and fresh energy on and off stage, they never leave home without a djembe drum to play, as a reminder of the heartbeats unifying us all.
