Share Open Hardware Summit 2014

Event Details

The Open Hardware Summit is the annual conference organized by the Open Source Hardware Association and the world’s first comprehensive conference on open hardware; a venue to discuss and draw attention to the rapidly growing Open Source Hardware movement.

Speakers include world renowned leaders from industry, academia, and the maker community. Talks cover a wide range of subjects from electronics and mechanics to related fields such as digital fabrication, fashion technology, self-quantification devices, and DIY bio. Workshops focus on, but are not limited to, education, manufacturing, design, business, and law. As a microcosm of the Open Source Hardware community, the Summit provides a friendly forum to be as inclusive as possible. The Open Hardware Summit was founded in 2010 by Alicia Gibb and Ayah Bdeir with support from Peter Semmelhack and Bug Labs in its founding years. You can read more about the history here.

Office Hours Room 9:30 - 17:00

A room for Conversation where people can talk about new projects, get to know each other, and ask questions about Open Source Hardware.

This room will host two Q&A Sessions with OSHWA representatives such as Alicia Gibb, Addie Wagenknecht, Nathan Siedle, and more speakers.

The two sessions are currently planned for 11 AM and 3 PM, and will last for about an hour.

The room will remain available for pop-up sessions and small meetups.


Unconference Room 9:30 - 17:00

This room will host a day long unconference where you’ll be able to propose session topics around the theme of “Making Open Hardware Scale” - This room will be run accordingly to Open Space Technology format. A first moment in the morning will be dedicated to enumerate and prioritize potential sessions to be run during the day.

Open Hardware Summit è la conferenza annuale organizzata da Open Source Hardware Associatione le prima conferenza completamente dedicata al mondo dell’hardware aperto; un luogo per discutere e richiamare l’attenzione sul movimento Open Source Hardware che è in rapida crescita.


Interverranno relatori leader di fama mondiale provenienti dall’industria, dall’università e dalle comunità dei maker. I talks coprono una vasta gamma di argomenti che spaziano dell’elettronica e la meccanica ai campi correlati, come la fabbricazione digitale, la tecnologia indossabile, i dispositivi di quantified self, l’arte e il biohacking. I Workshop si concentrano su, ma non sono limitati a, educazione, produzione, progettazione, business e aspetti legali. Il Summit è come un microcosmo della comunità Open Source Hardware: fornisce un luogo di incontro il più inclusivo possibile.

Quest’anno, il tema del Summit sarà “dall’Open Making all’Open Manufacturing” e quindi cercherà di focalizzare l’attenzione sul passaggio dal design aperto all’implementazione di modelli di produzione più intelligenti, inclusivi e sostenibili sia da un punto di vista sociale che ecologico.

Il Summit è stato fondata nel 2010 daAlicia Gibb eAyah Bdeir con il supporto di Peter Semmelhack eBug Labs nei suoi anni di fondazione.  nei suoi anni di fondazione ed è oggi alla sua quinta edizione, per la prima volta in Europa.
