Join us to build a live mesh network using your Android smartphone, tablet and laptop.
At this new network edge an exciting "we are the network" paradigm offers several fundamental benefits that will challenge your existing notions about wireless mesh. Get ready for the "social mesh." In this new model, dynamic peer-to-peer networks leverage mobile devices that people already possess, encouraging everyone to act as a single node in a truly decentralized network built on sharing connectivity and, as such, increasing the resiliency of the network.
We'll begin with a presentation on how mesh networks can give faster and more reliable access to the internet, followed by a live demo with folks in the audience creating an Open Garden mesh network on their Android, Windows and Mac devices. Following this live interactive demo, Sri will take the stage to discuss the past, present and future of p2p networks:
Is it the next step in the evolution of cellular? How will it coexist with the "old" paradigm which will continue to exist for a very long time? Due to advances in wireless, computing, and smartphone technology, the p2p paradigm is becoming viable for the first time in a commercial setting, and it will enable very powerful, resilient, higher-capacity networks for all of us that were not feasible before.
We'll conclude the evening with a Q&A session between the audience and the presenters, followed by light snacks, discussion and networking in the post-conference room with a beautiful view overlooking the Bay Bridge.
