About Alex Luna

Alex is a native of California, born and raised in the Los Angeles area. He was employed by the Southern California Gas Company and spent 34 years working in that industry. During his career Alex held various supervisory line, staff and functional management positions. While in Human Resources he severed as a Management Planning Administrator and Management Training Coordinator/Facilitator. He successfully taught contemporary soft skills training as an instructor at the Gas Company’s Training and Development Department. He was able to understand challenging organizational behavior issues and, in turn, pass on that experience and knowledge through training facilitation. After retiring from the gas company Alex joined Jim Potts and Associates as the Director of Training and Development. In this position he provided and led training seminars in such areas as Substance Abuse, Supervision, Sexual Harassment, and Diversity. He also has his own consulting business, Luna Human Resources/Training and Development where he develops specialized programs and seminars for his clients based on their specific needs. Training includes but is not limited to; Strategic Planning, Vision and Mission, Conflict Resolution, Sexual Harassment, Disc Assessment, Social Style Assessment, Effective Communication, Change Management, Ethics Awareness, Performance Management, Team Building and other relevant management competencies.

Alex has been an adjunct faculty member with the University of Phoenix for the past 13 ½ years teaching in the School of Business at the undergraduate and graduate levels. As a faculty member he has also taught for the Professional Development Department at the University of Phoenix, providing training to the University of Phoenix’s corporate clients in various management related disciplines. On November 6, 2013 Alex was recognized and awarded with the Faculty of the Year honors. This recognition is voted on by the students. That made it even more meaningful to Alex given that there are over 1,100 faculty members who are considered for this award.
