Event Details

Join us for an evening with Tamar Bercovici, who'll be presenting her talk from last month's All Your Base Conf

Tamar will be discussing MySQL - the most popular open-source database in production today but notoriously difficult to scale horizontally. Two years ago Box was running its entire website off a single MySQL database, traffic was growing aggressively, and they needed a solution. Tamar will discuss how Box transitioned their stack to a fully sharded MySQL architecture, with no downtime, while serving 2 billion queries per day. She'll focus on the challenges of migrating a live website and lessons learned along the way.

Tamar Bercovici is a Staff Software Engineer and Engineering Manager at Box where she leads the Distributed Data Systems Team in scaling Box’s database architecture. Prior to Box, Tamar was an early-stage employee at XMPie (now a Xerox company). Tamar holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.
