Over the past few years, our community has lost several young and wonderful soldiers. One of them was Ryan Patrick Kennedy. He went to Owen Academy, and graduated from Brother Rice in 2008; leaving for the Army a week later. He deployed to Afghanistan in May 2009 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Like thousands of veterans returning home, Ryan suffered from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Ryan lost his battle to PTSD on August 2nd, 2012.
In honor of Ryan, the Ryan Patrick Kennedy House will assist veterans with PTSD reclaim their life, and help them see a bright future! It is estimated that 22 veterans will commit suicide every day. To us, that represents 22 veterans that “slip through the cracks” daily. We promise to never turn away a veteran with PTSD. We will provide the care they desperately need and deserve.
