“Off the Greed: Economics from the Grassroots” will convene global leaders creating, studying and implementing alternative economic models that put people and the planet ahead of profits. The panelists from the Global South will be:
Perspectives from the Global North will be represented by:
- Donna Morton, Managing Partner, Business Strategy and co-founder of Principium, which helps build the Regenerative Economy through impact investing across all asset classes
- Gayle McLaughlin, the Mayor of Richmond, California, who has fought for alternative ways of doing business for her community.
Additionally, the moderator will be Pamela Shifman, Executive Director of the NoVo Foundation, who will bring a funder’s perspective on the movement for economic justice.
The evening will consist of a casual reception with food catered by the worker-run cooperative Local Flavor and an art exhibit on alternative economics entitled Reimagining Progress. And to complete the night, we will be graced by a performance from award-winning spoken-word duo, Climbing PoeTree.
The event will surface and make accessible the learnings and experience of innovators and thought leaders in order to amplify their economic models. Accordingly, a juicy Q & A session will follow the panel’s discussion. The event will be live-streamed and recorded for future playback.
