OCEMA - October 2013
Wednesday, October 2, 2013 from 7:30 AM to 10:00 AM (PDT)
Costa Mesa, CA
I would typically not consider Healthcare a “hot” topic for OCEMA however on January 1, 2014, the Affordable Care Act will be enacted and millions of Americans will have affordable access to healthcare. California has developed Covered California, a marketplace for Californians to shop for affordable healthcare plans. Each state has developed similar programs, some run by the state and some run by the Federal government. The plans and the costs are not created equal across the nation which will have an effect on talent acquisition. Candidates will be shopping for the plan and the cost that fits their needs and that may not be in California.
If you are like me, I have struggled to stay informed and make sense of it all. However I am happy to share that Michael Peterson, Director of Employment and Workforce Planning at Sharp Health, and Diane Schmidt, retired Recruitment Manager at UC San Diego Health System, both members of the California Hospital Association Workforce Committee, will present:
Healthcare Reform: What Talent Acquisition Professionals Need to Know….
Some key takeaways will be:
- Understand the pros and cons of these changes to your company and employees
- How these changes will impact your employment value proposition
- What impact the changes will make on recruiting talent
- Potential risks to retaining key talent
- Learn more about the newly created health exchanges
