Synopsis: The El Nino storms hit home on a regular basis. In an effort to protect Crescent Bay Beach, homes, and patrons, the City of Laguna Beach and Psomas partnered to upgrade an undersized 18” RCP to 60” RCP, designed an aesthetic outlet structure, installed a CDS unit, replaced stairway access to the beach, and constructed an underground shore protection system, among other improvements. This presentation will highlight some of the various issues and challenges that the City and the Psomas team faced over the course of the project. The project received a 2013 ACEC OC Chapter Award of Excellence.
