Event Details

A Food Swap is part silent auction/part village marketplace/part fun-loving open house where your home grown, homemade or foraged creations become your own personal currency for use in swapping with other participants.

Details:

Who: We welcome everyone, as long as you bring something you made, grew, or foraged yourself. You must pre-register to attend. Also, remember that there is a limited number of tickets, so if for some reason you cannot make it, let us know and we can adjust the guest list accordingly. If you plan to bring a family member or friend who will be participating, we ask that they register separately. Non-swapping guests are welcome to come and observe.

What: All swap items must be homemade, homegrown, or foraged by you. Bring an assortment of your homemade edible specialties (think pickles, preserves, eggs, baked goods, preserves, honey, granola, pasta, fruits, vegetables, herbs, spices… you name it!) to exchange for other handcrafted delights. Bring as little or as much as you like (we suggest 10-15 items, but it's up to you). You can bring a bunch of one thing or multiples of a few different things. The possibilities are endless!
Keep in mind that swappers will be examining and picking up your goods, so be sure to package them in a way that protects the food and makes it clear the amounts you want to swap. We encourage reusable, earth-friendly packaging whenever possible.
If possible, you should also bring samples for others to try.

Cost: Swap participants will be given free entry; a donation jar will be available to help cover the cost of supplies and to support the Oakmont Farmers Market.

Where: The Community Room of the Haverford Township Free Library - 1601 Darby Road, Havertown, PA 19083. Directions here. There is limited parking in the lot but street parking is prevalent and free after 6pm.

How it works: OFM will provide swapping cards, name tags, tables, and organization for the event. You will be given the opportunity to offer trades in a silent-auction type format, and you will be free to choose which trades to accept for your products. OFM will also have a container available for donations - we appreciate anything you'd be willing to give! Learn more about food swaps here: http://www.foodswapnetwork.com/

The Honor Code

This is a community event; however, participants must pre-register. It goes without saying that participants are using the highest cleanliness standards in their own kitchens and gardens to prepare their submissions. Nevertheless...

 • By participating in this event, you are acknowledging that the food items being traded are not necessarily prepared in any "approved" kitchen or space inspected by any government agency.

 • By participating in this event, you are also acknowledging that you will use the highest standards of cleanliness in food preparation.

Questions can be emailed to OakmontFarmersMarket@gmail.com. Please see the Food Swap Network's "How to Attend" page for FAQs.

OFM Thanks the Philly Food Swappers for the inspiration and guidance!
