Oakland Zoo Volunteer Event

The East Bay Haas Alumni Network Chapter invites you to spend a day volunteering at the Oakland Zoo, where we will work on habitat restoration and landscape management projects. It will be a wonderful way to enjoy a summer weekend morning with fellow Haas alums, helping to make important improvements to the Zoo.

If you are coming West bound on 580
Take the Golf Link Rd exit
Turn right on Golf Links Rd (Shell gas station is on the corner)
You will see the Oakland Zoo Sign
If you are coming East bound on 580
Take the 98th Ave / Golf Links Rd exit
Turn left onto Golf Links Rd
You will see the Oakland Zoo sign
When you drive in, tell the person at the gate (if there is one) that you are here to volunteer at the Horticulture Dept. You will not be charged a parking fee.
Go thru the gate and take the 2nd left, you will see the sign for the LOWER ENTRANCE. Please park at the Lower Area Parking Lot.
WHERE TO MEET:
Walk up the ramp to the Education Department (Maddie’s Center for Science & Environmental Education.
Dress for the weather, bring sun hats, wear closed toed sturdy shoes that can get dirty, and bring sunscreen.
Once we have completed the volunteer project we are free to visit the zoo on our own until the zoo closes at 4 pm. We are also entitled to one free ride on the train and the Skyride. You can use your own cup or water bottle to get a free soda from the soda machine in the Island Café (location Main Entrance to the Zoo).
