Oakland Cemetery (Interfaith Project)
Saturday, February 9, 2013 from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM (EST)
Historic Oakland Foundation cultivates resources for the preservation, restoration, beautification, and promotion of Historic Oakland Cemetery, a municipal burial ground owned and operated by the Atlanta Department of Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs. Volunteers will assist with general landscaping duties and should bring work gloves and a refillable water bottle if possible. The cemetery will have tools and light refreshments for the volunteers as well.
This service project is part of the Office of Civic Engagement's Interfaith & COmmunity Service Campus Challenge Initiative. While volunteering we will discuss our cultural/religious backgrounds and how our beliefs influence our service.
We will volunteer at Oakland Cemetery on February 9, 2013 from 9:30am-1pm. Please meet in Unity Plaza (in front of the Pounce Statue) at 9am and we will walk to Oakland Cemetery together.
