A joint write-a-thon and hack-a-thon!

National Day of Civic Hacking

Impact Hub Oakland, 2323 Broadway

For more info check our new video

The write-a-thon:

Do you have questions about City information and services? If so, Oakland Answers is the place where responses to your burning questions are answered in plain language!  Join us in brainstorming common questions that residents have for local government and then developing clear, human centered answers. This is another great way to continue public-private partnerships that benefit our city.

Here’s how you can be a part of it:

1. Come with questions! Or pick your favorite answers! Or come with answers and ask us what the questions might be!

2. Help rewrite information on the city’s website to translate government speak into plain language.

3. Bring friends and neighbors! This is about Oakland citizens coming together to make our city services more accessible.

The hackathon:

Current civic tech projects are welcome to participate.  We have a great venue booked to please join in and spend the day hacking on tech projects to make Oakland even better! Check out our current projects on our new community page.

This event is open to everyone in the community. NO technical expertise is required.

Please consider walking, biking, or taking public transit to Oakland Answers 2014. There is metered street parking and pay parking lots available.

National Day of Civic Hacking (#ndoch) - across the nation, citizens, software developers, and entrepreneurswill use publicly-released data and technology to collaboratively solve challenges relevant to our neighborhoods, our cities, our states and our country.
