SHOWCASE (GENERAL ADMISSION): 12PM SUNDAY
The NYU Entrepreneurs Network presents the first annual NYUHacks student hackathon in New York City. We're inviting organizations, undergraduate students, and graduate students across NYU and beyond for a weekend of collaborating, designing, and building really cool stuff. We realize that entrepreneurship, startups, and the like go beyond just coding - as long as you and your team can create something, we want you to join us. We'll provide food, transportation, and APIs - you just come together and hack!
This year's theme is "Crowd Knowledge.” We want to harness the knowledge of the crowd from all walks of life to make stuff. We’ll have mentors from some of the coolest startups and organizations around New York to give you hands-on help with data, hardware, and ideation. We're even bringing organizations from within the NYU ecosystem to come together to pull of this event. Whether they involve healthcare, social networking, or hardware hacking - we want to see your ideas come to life.
Q: Do I need to know how to code?
A: Not necessarily, but you will have a lot more fun if you do. We also welcome hardware hackers and other students to come with design skills, marketing skills, and the like. What's important is that you can make something really cool - meaning absolutely no powerpoint presentations or spreadsheets.
Q: Do I need to be a student to attend?
A: You either need to be a current undergraduate or graduate student, or a recent alum (you’ve graduated within the last 12 months from an undergraduate or graduate program).
Q: What if I don't live in New York City?
A: If you’re coming from a school outside of New York city and you don't have somewhere to stay over the weekend, we are providing very limited accomodations for travel within the city. Lodging is still being worked out, but do make your own plans for lodging. If you need accomodations, please indicate this in your registration, but there are no guarantees.
Q: What is this that I hear about a party?
A: We're still planning the party. As of now, you must be 21+ with a valid ID to attend the launch party. We will be checking IDs at the event to make sure you are who you say you are. This might change, but it's unlikely.
Q: Can I attend the showcase?
A: Yes, everyone is welcome to come to the showcase for a small fee.
Q: How many people can be in a team?
A: We place a cap of 5 people on any team at the hackathon.
Q: Can I form a team before the hackathon?
A: Yes, just tell us who's on your team when we do formation at the opening day.
