Let us help you navigate the independent and public school process from Pre-K through 8th Grade
This workshop is for parents who have children entering into or already in the NYC school system.
It is open to all parents who want to learn who to be advocates for their children, adopted or otherwise. The workshop leader, Sheryl Aiken-Sewer, is a NYS certified school psychologist who holds two Masters Degrees from Columbia University, in School Psychology and Special Education. Sheryl speaks regularly about school-related matters to families, teaching professionals and other psychologists.
There is not a day that goes by that adoption is not in the news. Unfortunately, many people get their information and form impressions about adoption solely through this media coverage.
Spence-Chapin, an accredited adoption organization that has been providing quality services to children and families for over 100 years, has a commitment to educating the wider community about adoption. As part of this commitment, we offer the following trainings and presentations specifically designed around a child’s life in school. These trainings are designed for teachers, guidance counselors, school psychologists, and parents. We will work with you to choose the training best for your community and provide learning materials to support each workshop.
