This breakfast program will discuss who will be impacted, key provisions of the bill and their impact on employers, how businesses can prepare and key dates to remember. Joel A. Klarreich is a partner in the New York City law firm of Tannenbaum Helpern Syracuse & Hirschtritt LLP, where he chairs the Employment and Staffing Industry and Corporate Departments. He specializes in business, corporate and employment law. Joel’s employment law practice focuses on issues relating to restrictive covenants, equal employment opportunity, social media and background checks, employment agreements, leave policies, reductions in force, and privacy concerns, among others. Joel was heavily involved in the formation of and negotiations concerning the paid sick leave legislation, and successfully proposed changes beneficial to the business community. He joined Tannenbaum Helpern when it merged with Klein, Heisler & Klarreich, P.C. Mr. Klarreich has represented numerous buyers and sellers in mergers and acquisitions of all magnitudes and represented firms in public and private stock offerings. Mr. Klarreich’s extensive legal experience is enhanced by his business experience. He served for over four years as Executive Vice President and General Counsel of an AMEX listed company, where his participation in all policy, operational and strategy decisions resulted in the company’s dynamic growth and eventual merger in a uniquely favorable transaction with a major competitor. He graduated from St. John’s University School of Law in 1968, where he ranked 5th in a class of 210 and was a member of The Law Review. Joel has been selected for inclusion in New York Super Lawyers for 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012, every year that selections were made.
Nick Florio, CPA, a partner at Citrin Cooperman, is known as the premier business consultant and financial advisor to a variety of closely-held private businesses in the Staffing, Hospitality and Real Estate industries. As an audit and accounting partner located in the firm’s New York City office, Nick brings over twenty years of experience to his clients. He advises in the areas of valuation services, business consulting, and profitability analysis and helps clients with strategic corporate organization, as well as business and tax planning. Nick is a long-standing active member of related trade organizations is frequently asked to speak on various business and financial issues at local and national conferences.
Jason Klimpl is an attorney in the Employment Law Group of Tannenbaum Helpern Syracuse & Hirschtritt LLP. He advises clients on a broad range of employment law matters, such as wage and hour compliance; healthcare; equal opportunity actions and policies; employment agreements and restrictive covenants; independent contractor and consulting issues, reductions in force; technology and privacy concerns; and other human resources counseling. Jason is also the Associate General Counsel of the New York Staffing Association, and is heavily involved in the staffing industry. In connection with the paid sick leave legislation, Jason was extremely active in the legislative process, including the shaping of key amendments and the drafting of testimony. In 2012, the New York Enterprise Report named Jason the sole winner of the 2012 Best Attorneys and Accountants “Rising Star Attorney” category. Jason graduated from Lehigh University (magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) and Brooklyn Law School (cum laude).
