Natural Resources Defense Council
The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is an international nonprofit environmental organization with more than 1.4 million members and online activists.
Since 1970, our lawyers, scientists, and other environmental specialists have worked to protect the world's natural resources, public health, and the environment.
Founded in 2006, NRDC’s San Francisco Council is a volunteer group comprised of young professionals in the Bay Area from a variety of backgrounds and professions who share a strong commitment to the environment and are dedicated to furthering the mission of NRDC: to safeguard the Earth, its people, its plants and animals, and the natural systems on which all life depends. Members support NRDC’s work at the regional, national, and international levels with a special focus on creating a cleaner, healthier California.
As a partner to NRDC, a leading national environmental advocacy organization, San Francisco Council members join in exclusive educational opportunities led by NRDC scientists, attorneys, and policy experts to stay informed on and build awareness of critical environmental and health issues facing California, and help raise funds for NRDC’s programs through educational and social activities as well as other initiatives.
