Event Details

The National Press Club's International Correspondents Committee is hosting the premiere of the documentary film, "Pictures from a Hiroshima Schoolyard," at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, in the Holeman Lounge.

The film portrays an inspiring story of peace and reconciliation about schoolchildren living among the devastation of Hiroshima and about a set of drawings, recently re-discovered at All Souls Church in Washington, D.C., through which they expressed their unwavering optimism and hope.

Harriet Fulbright, widow of Senator J. William Fulbright, says of the film:

"Pictures from a Hiroshima Schoolyard is unique in that it portrays an aspect of the Hiroshima story that is very important and rarely heard. It is important that East and West understand each other. This film makes a powerful statement, bringing us all closer together."

The film will be shown from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. and will be followed by Q&A with writer/director Bryan Reichhardt and producer Shizumi Shigeto Manale.
