Novel Submission 101
Monday, April 22, 2013 at 7:00 PM - Monday, April 29, 2013 at 9:00 PM (CDT)
It's time again for Writers Night Out! Join us on April 22 and 29, and whip your novel into submission-shape!
Join us for this 2-week workshop where local author Holly McDowell (King Solomon's Wives) will walk you through the process and dos and don'ts of submitting your novel for publication. If you wish to find an agent, whether for a print or digital project, this workshop will answer your questions and get you ready to get your book out into the world.
Holly will discuss:
- Getting your novel ready for submission
- Why it needs to be ready before submission
- Researching agents
- Approaching the right agent(s)
- Dos and don'ts of querying
All attendees will receive an email with details on location - please do not send questions about this, as you will receive instructions!
Also note: This is a two-week workshop.
Time: 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Dates: Mondays - April 22 and April 29.
Location: The Writers Workspace, Near Broadway & Catalpa (we will email you location details by 4/17. This is a private meeting space.)
There are only 16 slots available for this workshop. Sign up today!
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No - if we need to, we'll ask for an ID. But we trust you, mostly.
What is the refund policy?
There are no refunds for Writers Night Out Workshops. Please read all details and ensure you are able to attend before signing up for a WNO workshop. You may transfer your registration to someone else -- just let us know. If you wish to transfer your registration, please contact us.
Can I take this class if I want to sell something other than a novel?
We don't recommend it. Your instructor has expertise in Novel submissions only. If you want questions answered about any other genre, this is not the best workshop for you. But don't worry - we have other workshops and a conference coming up! You can also visit our friends at Story Studio Chicago.
Can I pay half and take only one week?
Can I skip a week?
No, and if you do, your instructor will not fill you in.
What should I bring?
Something to take notes with, a sweater, and a covered beverage of your choice.
