Not Your Grandmother's Progressive Dinner
Wednesday, October 9, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM (PDT)
Remember those Progressive Dinners from the 50s?
Actually, no, neither do we. But we've been told about them, and for some reason (perhaps too many Mad Men episodes?) they kick-started our collective creative minds. Collective meaning we've teamed up with the fabulous Muddy Leek Restaurant and the amazing Koplin Del Rio Gallery to bring you the very first...
Not Your Grandmother's Progressive Dinner on Wednesday, October 9, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Muddy Leek and ending up at Bar & Garden, with a stop at Koplin Del Rio along the way.
You ask, what on earth are we talking about? And what on earth is that woman in that picture doing?
The woman in the picture is Miss Chicago 1956, and apparently she is a Sausage Charmer. And that's all we're going to say about that.
On the agenda:
6:00 p.m.: Begin at the Muddy Leek with the KAFKA, a cocktail featuring Corsair Quinoa Whiskey and an herb-infused ice ball (that's what I said). We'll also be tasting the whiskey by itself, plus chomping on seasonal hors d'oeuvres such as Lamb Merguez on crostini with garlic aioli, or Quinoa Fritters and grated apple Kosho. There’s also Cornbread with roast zucchini, goat cheese and lemon, alongside a Spiced Chicken Liver Mousse and five-spice cracker and, in case you are still hungry, Orange Dusted Sweet Potato Fries.
7:30 or so: Meander down to Koplin Del Rio Gallery (a few short blocks away) for snacks and THE BITTER VIRGIN, a cocktail featuring Homestead Bourbon, Cardamaro, Orange Bitters and, of course, a cherry. We'll also taste the liquor used to make the cocktail. View art. Talk about it. Check out what you'll see at Koplin Del Rio here.
8:30 or so: Wander over to Bar & Garden for Quinta do Tedo port and Muddy Leek Truffles. Purchase items if you are so inclined. Discuss the evening. Find new friends.
9:30 or so: Go home. Charm some sausage.
$38 per person, limited to 40 people, all inclusive. We can't WAIT!
