THE POWER OF THE NETWORK

::NOSOTROS MONTHLY MIXER::

The Network only works - when YOU work it!

This month's topic:

~:~ The Buiness of the FILM BUSINESS ~:~
Lights, camera, action!... Then what? Should you shoot first and ask questions later? Or get stuck in trying to get all your ducks in a row first?

This month's Nosotros POTN in collaboration with NALIP is all about taking your project through the essential steps necessary to ensure it is seen by more than your family and friends!

Our featured panelist will share their detailed step-by-step insighst to understanding all the financial resources for financing your film, how to create the tools necessary to close that financing, and your options to distribute your film. Learn how to add value to your film before you make it, and hear about the opportunities you have if you already have it... "in the can."

In addition, panelist Hector Echavarria ("Chavez: Cage of Glory")  and Douglas Spain ("Mission Park") will be discussing their real-world case study of how they made their films a reality and secured the financing and distribution.

It's called the "FILM BUSINESS" for a reason... and if you're serious about your project... this is the place to be!

Mike’s initial focus was domestic film programming until 1988 when he was promoted to the head of the National Film Department. As head of the film department, Mike was responsible for coordinating content programming for the U.S. market, as well as handling all financial negotiations with major studios and independent film distributors. Mike was responsible for all of the major international markets including Mexico, South America, Asia and Europe. Mike had the vision to launch Arcangelo Entertainment, a privately held firm specializing in independent film marketing and distribution. Through Mike’s expertise, Arcangelo quickly built up a robust client base, including Televisa (Mexico), Roskinoprokat (Russia), Geneon (Japan) and many U.S. based clients. In 2004, Mike used his twenty-two years of industry experience to spearhead and co-found Freestyle Releasing. Mike’s expertise, industry knowledge and leadership helped Freestyle earn clients such as Yari Film Group, After Dark Films, Vivendi Entertainment and Videocine. Mike personally oversaw and managed a multitude of film releases that varied in venue and market size. Among these projects was The Illusionist, which was released into 1440 theaters and grossed $40.1 million domestic. In addition to producing and starring in his own films, Hector has become an industrial force- with his own clothing line, martial arts federation, real estate holdings, children’s toys and action figures, and an entertainment production company. And now, with his multi-picture slate of action films in which he stars and produces, others are calling him the Tyler Perry of the Hispanic action market. His filmmaking expertise starts with a multi-picture deal to produce and star in a series of action films distributed on Blue Ray and DVD by Lionsgate. These included Death Warrior, Confessions of a Pit Fighter, Never Surrender, and the horror film Lake Dead. And most recently with Chavez: Cage of Glory, which he also wrote and directed.
