Come celebrate the release of Non Stop Bhangra Documentary  (3 plus years in the making)  by filmmaker Odell Hussey. An intimate look inside the award winning Indian monthly event in San Francisco called Non Stop Bhangra, where a group of over 20+ people come together each month to produce a unique and cultural nightlife experience. This documentary started out as one man's vision to shoot a short bio on a musical sub genre and then evolved into 3 years of his life's work as he followed the group through their many trials and tribulations. From a special presentation at TEDxSF to the SF Mayor's inauguration, the energy of this mixed collective continues to persevere as it helps break down the cultural separations through the transformative power of music and dance.

On July 13th, Non Stop Bhangra celebrates the release at its monthly venue Public Works.  The night will highlight footage from the documentary and will be giving away a copy to the first 200 people. Its been a huge labor of love that captures the story of Non Stop Bhangra's journey for the past 8 plus years.  As always, the night will begin with the ritual Bhangra dance lesson followed by beautiful dance performances with Dholrhythms Dance Company.  In addition we have special guest DJ Scorpio (Bruin Bhangra, LA) mixing it up with NSB's own DJ Rav-E and DJ Jimmy Love alongside NSB's dholis Pavit and Mehul rocking the drum beats.

Beyond dance, Non Stop Bhangra caters to sight and sound with visuals all night by DJ Amar. So come join the crew to celebrate this amazing milestone with another colorful and vibrant night with great music, friends, gratitude, happy vibes, and non stop dancing.

Whether you are exploring a new culture for the first time or addicted to the music and its essence, this will be one night where you can get away from it all and dance the night away. So much more than just a club night, Non Stop Bhangra has truly turned into one of a kind cultural experience only found in the Bay Area.

No theme this month! Just a straight Non Stop Bhangra Celebration so come out your in your brightest and most vibrant summer colors and help us heat up Public Works

Featured monthly at Public Works in San Francisco, Non Stop Bhangra is a unique experience that celebrates the beautiful and vibrant spirit of Bhangra, a traditional Punjabi folk music and dance.

Imagine a scene from a Bollywood movie smack in the middle of a thumping nightclub-swirling colors, the rhythm of pounding feet, & the relentless energy of brilliant beats -that's Non Stop Bhangra

Highlighting the ancestral roots of Punjabi dance while pushing boundaries with contemporary influences, Non Stop Bhangra is a genre-busting elixir of North Indian Bhangra music and dance, mixed with reggae, hip-hop, and electronica. An ever-evolving collective of dancers, DJs, drummers, vocalists, and musicians, Non Stop Bhangra is a non-stop party. Featuring dance lessons and performances with Dholrhythms Dance Company, and music by DJ Jimmy Love, alongside live Dhol players, live painting, and visuals, the group has won legions of fans with its monthly events in San Francisco.

Non Stop Bhangra was founded in 2004 when Dholrhythms founders Vicki Virk and Suman Raj teamed up with DJ Jimmy Love with the goal of bringing Bhangra to a wider audience. The first Non Stop Bhangra was hosted to celebrate the one year anniversary of Dholrhythms by providing a dance space for students of Dholrhythms Bhangra classes. Since then, NSB has made this traditional style a serious dance floor craze in San Francisco, drawing the most diverse crowds to join in the frenzy. NSB is a destination, creating sold out nights and write-ups as one of the best dance floor nights in San Francisco.

In addition to the monthly event, Non Stop Bhangra Collective has performed at some of the largest stages in the West Coast including San Francisco’s renowned Stern Grove Festival, TED XSF at Yerba Buena Center For the Arts, Goldman Environmental Prize Ceremony at War Memorial Opera House, Inaugration Ceremony of Mayor Ed Lee at SF City Hall, Michael Franti’s Power to the Peaceful in Golden Gate Park, New Mexico’s ¡Globalquerque!, Grand Performances in Los Angeles, Pasadena’s Levitt Pavilion, and Canada’s Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival and many more.
