Non Stop Bhangra #86--8 Year Anniversary
Black & White Bhangra Ball

Celebrating 8 years of bringing Indian culture to San Francisco, Non Stop Bhangra has stood on its own as one of the premier Indian events in the city by creating its own unique experience. With the wonderful support from the Bay Area's music community, the NSB crew has turned thousands of people in the Bay onto the infectious beats from North India. Commonly hosting sold out nights, the group has performed on some of the largest stages in the city as well as clubs and festivals across North America.

To celebrate this huge milestone the group has decided to make this year's anniversary party a Black & White Ball, turning the hot new club of Public Works into a spectacle.

The night's journey will take off with an interactive, fun, Non Stop Bhangra Baraat Mob (procession) that will make its way dancing into the venue.  To join the Baraat Mob, meet at the corner of 16th street and Mission at 9pm. Following the Baraat mob will be the ritual Bhangra dance lesson and vibrant dance performances by the lovely ladies of Dholrhythms Dance Company.

The journey will continue with Non Stop Bhangra DJ's DJ Jimmy Love and  DJ Rav-E who will be joined on the decks with special guests DJ Sep (Dub Mission) and Nix Bhachu (Bol Punjab De) alongside live Dhol Drums by Pavit . Beyond sound and dance, Non Stop Bhangra caters to your eyes all night with visuals by DJ Amar.

Outside the summer air will be dancing to the sound of live drums while filling your senses with the aroma of scrumptious food. There will be a Henna area to get your hands painted and a Black & White Do-It Yourself Photo booth to capture your night!

Non Stop Bhangra is truly a special and unique part of San Francisco's culture which brings us all together.  We hope to see new and old friends come out celebrate the joy of the music and dance.

For those that still don't know what NSB is:
Imagine a scene from a Bollywood movie smack in the middle of a thumping nightclub---swirling colors, the rhythm of pounding feet, and the relentless energy of brilliant beats-that’s Non Stop Bhangra.

Featured monthly at Public Works in San Francisco, Non Stop Bhangra is a unique experience that celebrates the beautiful and vibrant spirit of Bhangra, a traditional Punjabi folk music and dance.

Imagine a scene from a Bollywood movie smack in the middle of a thumping nightclub-swirling colors, the rhythm of pounding feet, & the relentless energy of brilliant beats -that's Non Stop Bhangra

Highlighting the ancestral roots of Punjabi dance while pushing boundaries with contemporary influences, Non Stop Bhangra is a genre-busting elixir of North Indian Bhangra music and dance, mixed with reggae, hip-hop, and electronica. An ever-evolving collective of dancers, DJs, drummers, vocalists, and musicians, Non Stop Bhangra is a non-stop party. Featuring dance lessons and performances with Dholrhythms Dance Company, and music by DJ Jimmy Love, alongside live Dhol players, live painting, and visuals, the group has won legions of fans with its monthly events in San Francisco.

Non Stop Bhangra was founded in 2004 when Dholrhythms founders Vicki Virk and Suman Raj teamed up with DJ Jimmy Love with the goal of bringing Bhangra to a wider audience. The first Non Stop Bhangra was hosted to celebrate the one year anniversary of Dholrhythms by providing a dance space for students of Dholrhythms Bhangra classes. Since then, NSB has made this traditional style a serious dance floor craze in San Francisco, drawing the most diverse crowds to join in the frenzy. NSB is a destination, creating sold out nights and write-ups as one of the best dance floor nights in San Francisco.

In addition to the monthly event, Non Stop Bhangra Collective has performed at some of the largest stages in the West Coast including San Francisco’s renowned Stern Grove Festival, TED XSF at Yerba Buena Center For the Arts, Goldman Environmental Prize Ceremony at War Memorial Opera House, Inaugration Ceremony of Mayor Ed Lee at SF City Hall, Michael Franti’s Power to the Peaceful in Golden Gate Park, New Mexico’s ¡Globalquerque!, Grand Performances in Los Angeles, Pasadena’s Levitt Pavilion, and Canada’s Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival and many more.
