Medication Adherence Essentials

David B. Callahan MD, FAAFP

Lead, Applied Research and Translation Team

Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

April 9, 2014 2:00-3:00 PM ET:

Medication adherence plays a critical role in prevention and treatment; nevertheless, the burden of non-adherence remains high. There are effective interventions to improve adherence and to measure the impact of those interventions that can be used in a practical setting. This talk is designed to describe those methods and interventions, and to demonstrate the critical role they play in improving medication adherence, especially in primary care. It also provides tools and resources for enhancing adherence.
