Nightlife on Other Planets
Friday, June 3, 2011 from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM (PDT)
San Francisco, CA
Online ticket sales have ended, but tickets will be available at the door.
“Nightlife on Other Planets” is a special sneak preview of Ilanio's first new line since IlanioWear, and will take place on Friday, June 3, at an amazingly surreal architectural gem -- the SF Unitarian church. It’s a whole new world of far-out fashion, light-years beyond the former IlanioWear milieu. Psychedelic dance-rock will be provided by Jai Young Kim (Secret Chiefs 3, Tone Volt), and SpacEKrafT (http://www.myspacekraft.com/) will perform their other-wordly electronic creations.
So come for the eye-popping fashion experiments, stay for the music, and all the while marvel at the über-hot models that make everything look so much better! Join us on Friday, June 3, from 7:30 pm till 10, at the SF Unitarian church, on Franklin & Geary. It’s an intimate space, and attendance is limited, so get your tickets now!
Thanks and hope to see you all there!
Jettisoning all considerations of wearability and sale-ability, San Francisco fashion designer Ilanio has created a space in which unfettered playfulness reigns supreme: synthetic materials in Day-Glo colors romp happily with organic, exobiological forms; fetish staples like latex and PVC burst out of their dark, menacing dungeons to populate a naïve new world of oranges and bubblegum pinks; and despite this work’s adult themes of polyamory and gender identity, we find ourselves simply marveling at the ubiquitous eye-candy.
SpacEKraft is an uncategorizable electronic duo treading the stylistic waters between Kraftwerk and corporate event booths. In more technical terms and according to their earthly presence in cyberspace on FaceBook, “an audio-visual experience designed for travel or operation in space beyond the earth's atmosphere or in orbit around the earth”.
Jai Young Kim is a San Francisco musician / engineer / DJ who performs and tours as a "one-man psychedelic dance-rock band," using live instruments (guitar, keyboard, voice) layered with loops of heavy rock and electronic dance music beats. Jai Young has toured the world as a keyboardist for American cult rock band Secret Chiefs 3, who've played 26 countries in five continents. His current projects include San Francisco noise-rock quartet Tone Volt; ongoing DJ sets at the Burning Man festival; and Feast or Famine, a small recording studio and boutique indie label.
