Bay Area Climate Collaborative & California Lighting Technology Center at UC-Davis

The Bay Area Next Generation Streetlight Initiative provides leading-edge education, resources and guidance to local governments to accelerate the move to solid-state lighting (LED). The overarching goal is to catalyze the conversion of 200,000 streetlights in the Bay Area and deliver $50 million in cost savings and 100,000 metric tons of CO2 avoidance over 5 years.

The Bay Area Climate Collaborative is an initiative launched by the mayors of San Francisco, San Jose and Oakland with business and civic leaders to accelerate the clean energy economy and climate action in the Bay Area.  This is a public-private initiative with the major partners Bank of America, Environmental Defense Fund and Pacific Gas & Electric, Joint Venture, Bay Area Council and local governments representing over 75% of the Bay Area population.

The California Lighting Technology Center is a research, development, and demonstration facility whose mission is to stimulate, facilitate, and accelerate the development and commercialization of energy-efficient lighting and daylighting technologies. This is accomplished through technology development and demonstrations, as well as offering outreach and education activities in partnership with utilities, lighting manufacturers, end users, builders, designers, researchers, academics, and government agencies.
