Let's get together for a 2.5 hour introductory workshop into the amazing world of night photography! If you have a basic understanding of digital photography and you would like to try night photography or improve your existing skills, then this workhop is for YOU!
In this advanced workshop, you will learn specific techniques that are mandatory for night photography and long exposures. As we will meet shortly before sunset, we will have enough time to set up on location and go over all the important camera settings, such as aperture, shutter speed, ISO and white balance. We will shoot from several different locations within the park which are only a few minutes walk in between. All provide amazing views at the Downtown Manhattan skyline and great opportunities to improved our photographic skills. Towards the end, we will also briefly cover the technique of light painting, which can produce amazing results in long exposures at night. All locations are open until midnight, patrolled and perfectly safe.
Please note that this workshop is NOT intended for the beginner at digital photography. If you are just starting out with your photography, please consider taking one of my "Digital Photography 101" classes that are held all over New York City instead.
Please bring your DSLR camera and any wide-angle or medium range lenses that you might have. For owners of point & shoot cameras, you are very welcome to participate as well, as long as your camera gives you the ability to change aperture and shutter speed. VERY IMPORTANT: please also bring a tripod and, if you have, a cable release!!
We are going to meet outside of the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory at the Brooklyn Bridge Park (Subway lines 2/3 to Clark Street, A/C to High Street/Brooklyn Bridge or 4/5 to Borough Hall). I am 6'6" tall and I will carry an olive-green camera backpack for you to recognize me.
More information on my private workshops can be found on my website.
