Join us for a new introductory swing dance lesson from 8 to 9 at Reso Box, a cool art collaboration/cafe space near Queensboro Plaza!!  (http://resobox.com)

Swing Dancing is a very easy fun dance developed to the sound of big band jazz music in 30s and 40s!! No partner or experience necessary. Just bring your comfortable shoes and your happy feet. Meet new friends while you get some exercise done. The class will be taught by Evan Dean and Akemi Kinukawa. Looking forward to dancing with you!  Class space is limited. Please RSVP below to guarantee your spot!!

Early Bird Price: $8 per person (cash at door only)

Akemi Kinukawa, Swing Dance Astoria

Akemi Kinukawa has been teaching and dancing Lindy Hop, the original form of swing dancing, for over 15 years. She has extensive experience teaching the dance to diverse students including children, youth, seniors, ESL students and adults.  Her weekly classes are offered at You Should Be Dancing! Dance Center in Manhattan but she is hoping to build a swing dance community in Astoria where she lives.  She also teaches partner dancing to children in public schools as a teaching artist of Dancing Classrooms, also known as “Mad Hot Ballroom.”  She has performed and choreographed Lindy Hop routines for various events, including Midsummer Night Swing at Lincoln Center.
