Interested in writing? Want to meet other high school writers from across the city? Ready to explore new forms of writing with professional writers? The festival is open to any high school student, and requires pre-registration and a $20 registration fee (includes lunch and a festival t-shirt).  Register by March 27.

Master Class with Nathaniel Rich (all LitFest participants will attend):  Nathaniel Rich is a novelist and essayist.  His essays have appeared in the New York Review of Books, Harpers, the New York Times Magazine, Slate, and the Daily Beast, among other publications.  His new novel Odds Against Tomorrow will be released later in April – get a sneak peek at LitFest!

Spoken Word with Chuck Perkins: An inspiring class focusing on how to dynamically perform your poetry.

Screenwriting with Henry Griffin: Discover the elements needed to write a screenplay.  Write your own major motion picture.

Text And Movement with Jeffrey Gushol: You don’t have to be a dancer to take this class. It’s a fun and surprising way to connect movement and language.

Story Games with Mischa Krilov: Word games for gamers.  Need we say more?

Sound and Text with Steve Reynolds: Step into a recording studio for a sound/text experiment.  Bring a short paragraph of your own writing and be prepared to mix in unusual sounds!

Fiction with Jamey Hatley: Don’t retell the same story in the same way.  Explore new approaches to fiction.

Poetry with Anne Marie Rooney:  You know you’re a poet.  Now look at poetry in a whole new way.

Open Mic (all LitFest participants will attend): Bring a 1 – 2 minute piece of original writing for the festival's open mic event!

LitFest is a collaboration between New Orleans Center for Creative Arts and Lusher Charter High School
