6th Annual

American Indian/Alaska Native Education Summit

March 11-12, 2013

At the University of Nevada, Reno, Joe Crowley Student Union

Each day will start at 9:00 a.m.

The Summit will offer training for all who work with American Indian students, from pre-kindergarten through postsecondary education.


Registration Information:

Advance Registration Fee: $125

Registration Fee after February 8, 2013: $150

Paid Registrations includes the  Pesa Namanedu Award Luncheon & a UNR Parking pass during the conference.

In partnership with the University of Nevada, Reno’s Center for Student Cultural Diversity and the Nevada Indian Commission, the Nevada Department of Education holds an annual American Indian/Alaska Native (AIAN) Education Summit during the month of March.    

In conjunction with the AIAN Education Summit’s Planning Committee, the Department presents the Pesa Namanedu award to honor American Indian educators in the state of Nevada who have made significant contributions toward Indian Education.  Past Pesa Namanedu recipients include: Authors and contributors to the Numa, Newe, Nuwuvi, and Wa She Shu ITCN books; The Great Basin Native American Language Endorsement Committee; and the developers and writers of the Celebrating Nevada Indians Curriculum.
