On Sunday, October 17 at 2 pm, Canyengue: The Soul of Tango will bring together Latin Grammy-winning pianist and composer Pablo Ziegler, considered to be "the outstanding representative of the nuevo tango in his generation" (Stereo Review) and Maya Beiser, described by the The New Yorker as a "cello goddess". Ziegler was pianist for Astor Piazzolla for ten years and was instrumental in creating the sound that elevated tango music from dance clubs to the concert hall. Beiser grew up on Argentinian kibbutz in Israel and is a celebrated cellist known for taking the cello beyond its classical boundaries. In this concert, they will explore the nature of "canyengue" - provocative, raw, earthy and sensual - the true soul of Buenos Aires tango.
Family friendly, one hour long concerts that combine music with commentary hosted by Simone Dinnerstein. All musicians donate their performances, & all ticket sales benefit programs sponsored by PS 321’s PTA.
If not possible, you do not need to print out your tickets. Please stop at the Will Call table in the school lobby at least 15 minutes before the show for concert entry.
