The Underground Storage Tank Section has started implementing the UST Operator training requirement listed in the Federal Energy Policy Act of 2005.
By completing this course and passing the test you will be considered a trained operator for your UST facility. Class will begin at 9:00 am and end around 3:00 pm. You should bring a pencil to class.
UST Operator training is part of a new US EPA requirement that requires all UST systems in North Carolina to have a trained PRIMARY OPERATOR by August 8, 2012.
A primary operator (Class A/B) is responsible for State and Federal underground storage tank regulatory requirements concerning the day-to-day aspects of operating, maintaining, and recordkeeping for one or more UST facilities. The primary operator must have a general knowledge of the UST compliance requirements listed in 15A NCAC 2N, Criteria and Standards Applicable to Underground Storage Tanks. The primary operator must be an employee of the entity that owns or operates the USTs at the facility. Contractors con not be a primary operator.
If you need more detailed information about the operator training requirements, please refer to the UST Section's Operator Training Plan on our website at http://portal.ncdenr.org/web/wm/ust/ustmain.
