The grounds of LA's Natural History Museum have undergone a transformation under the leadership of Mia Lehrer + Associates to provide accessible public space and also connect the property more closely with LA's unique ecosystem. The Nature Gardens is a brand-new urban wilderness on 3.5 acres which includes outdoor exhibits focused on the native flora and fauna of Southern California. These consists of a pond, pollinator garden and many other features that allow visitors to observe scientists at work as they conducting experiments about the future of LA. There's also an Edible Garden which grows fruits and vegetables with the goal of educating Angelenos on how to plan and maintain their own gardens.
As part of this special event in partnership with the NHM and ML+A, we'll be able to enjoy cocktails and snacks in the garden and hear from the designers and scientists who are working together to make it an educational resource for the community as well as a vibrant new civic space.
