Event Details

Native Tongue is a storyslam showcasing the lives of Muslim Americans.

The show debuted in New York City in May 2013 to a max capacity crowd and high demand has prompted the show to be showcased in several cities across the United States this year.

Each show is centered around a theme as storytellers get on stage to tell personal stories that the audience then votes upon. The winner of the story slam will (literally) get crowned as Best Storyteller of the evening.

The Event kicks off a jampacked weekend of The Muslim Protagonist, Columbia University's 2nd annual symposium of Muslim & minority writers, artists and thinkers.

Muslims come from cultures as colorful as the landscape of this country and often come from heritages rich in storytelling traditions. Native Tongue is a show celebrating and reviving our storytelling roots.

The theme of the evening is "Journeys."
