Sunday, September 8, 2013 from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM (EDT)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
This International Distance triathlon, sanctioned by the USAT, includes a 1.5k swim in the Potomac River, 40k bike course through DC, and a 10k run through Washington, DC’s historical landmarks with a spectacular finish!
PAVE thanks Anthony Gray, President of ContinuCheck LLC, for raising donations for PAVE during this triathlon!
ContinuCheck: Instead of the conventional background screening done once during the hiring process, ContinuCheck conducts the initial screening AND then continually screens the individual every month. Initial backgrounds provide only a snapshot in time and don't reflect changes in the person's background or accurately reflect government records that are often time late in accurately reflecting changes to files.
In order to enhance the privacy of the screened employee, we issue a badge to the employee with a QR code and a link to our mobile app showing if the individual's background is "clear" of sex offenses, criminal activity, and dangerous driving violations along with any professional certifications or credentials they may have. The current process of background screening all of the "raw data" including all offenses, even frivolous embarassing offenses. Our solution prevents the risk of "false positives" where people with common first name, last name combinations are often confused with violent offenders.
We hope this new method of screening people will enhance safety from violent sex offenders and criminals while protecting privacy. CLICK HERE for more info!

PAVE was founded by Angela Rose - an outspoken survivor (and thriver!) of sexual assault who travels the country engaging men and women to be a part of the solution. She takes a positive and proactive approach on these tough issues. Although she was assaulted by a stranger, she has dedicated the past decade of her life to campus, date and aquaintance sexual assualt. At the age of 17, Angela was abducted at knifepoint outside a suburban shopping mall. She was assaulted by a repeat sex-offender on parole for murder. Eventually released by her attacker, she then suffered at the hands of authorities who subjected her to scrutiny, blame and additional victimization. From this tragic story emerged one of the nation’s most passionate and impactful advocates for the prevention of sexual violence. Angela has lobbied for vital laws for victims and has promoted the importance of education on the issues surrounding sexual violence. She created PAVE at the University of WI-Madison in 2002. She is the author of Hope, Healing & Happiness: Going Inward to Transform Your Life.
