Celebrate National Public Lands Day with a Guided Hike at Weedon Island Preserve! Weedon Island was first established as a state preserve in 1974 and was the first purchase under the Florida Environmentally Endangered Lands Act. Today, Weedon Island is state-owned and county-managed and attracts tens of thousands of visitors per year. Join us on this special hike to learn about the history of St. Petersburg Florida’s large Public Land Tract!

Pinellas County Extension at Weedon Island Preserve Cultural and Natural History Center is proud to offer a variety of educational and interpretive programs for the public. The goal of these programs is to empower citizens to make informed decisions about natural and cultural resources. Center programs interpret the natural, cultural and archaeological history of the Preserve in order to demonstrate how the environment and people support and shape each other.
