Let's Practice Reflective Listening

"Our ears never close so why is it so hard to listen intently and emphatically? Listening seems to be a skill we all could practice, so let's close our mouths and get started. Mirror, mirror on the wall what in the world is she saying after all? Let's practice reflective listening. Let's practice listening from the other's frame of reference."

Speaker: Gail Richardson, MA - The Successful Parenting Institute

Gail has worked directly with children for over twelve years as a teacher at Bradley Creek Elementary School and Cape Fear Academy. She has also facilitated parenting classes for over fifteen years dedicating her work to equip, encourage, and empower parents in effective and peaceful parenting. She received a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and a B.A. degree in Elementary Education from Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina. Gail is trained in Systematic Teaching of Effective Parents and she is currently enrolled in an intensive Gestalt training program at the Seaside Gestalt Institute. Food 911 for Nannies

Personal Chef Lori Eaton will help you tackle 3 of the most common challenges when it comes to food and kids

The Sugar Monster—battling sugar addiction with creative homemade snacks and meals

Feeding Hunger, Not Emotion- how to ensure you’re feeding hunger and not emotions

Turning Nays into Yays- stop negotiating and bribing, inspire kids to try foods on their own

Speaker: Lori Eaton, Personal Chef and owner of Eaton at Home

Chef Lori Eaton understands the challenges of being a nanny. Her summer breaks in college were filled with a full-time nanny position for five children. She always says it has been one of the most rewarding jobs she’s ever had, and she’s had a lot of jobs. From owning a restaurant, to becoming a film production caterer, to personal assistant to an actor in Hollywood, Lori Eaton has worn many hats.

In 2004, Eaton at Home personal chef services was born from the constant requests of friends and family for her to cater private events in their homes. She relocated the business to Wilmington in 2005. She helps busy families by creating healthy meal plans, provides senior citizens with dietary restrictive meals, prepares dinner parties and caters beach house weddings. She also travels with clients on vacation to resorts which do not offer chef services. Her variety of clientele forces her to be up to date with diet trends, allergies, weight loss diets and a plethora of all sorts of food related topics. For someone who eats, drinks, sleeps and breathes food, it’s a dream come true.

In September of 2012, Chef Lori decided to add to her existing expertise and enrolled at The Institute for Integrative Nutrition. She is currently pre-certified as a Health & Nutrition Coach and will be starting a sister company in August of 2013. It’s going to be a very busy year for Chef and Coach Lori Eaton, and she is looking forward to such an exciting year!
