Join 12th & Broad for Nashville Night: A Pairing of Food and Words
From Proust’s madeleine to Quentin Tarantino’s Royale with Cheese, food has long served as a writer’s muse. Our pop-up dinner at the beloved Arnold’s Country Kitchen will celebrate and explore food and literature with a nod to late, great food writer John Egerton among other writers of nonfiction, fiction, poetry and even song. During each course, we'll have readings related to the food we're eating followed by writing prompts to express our own creativity on paper.
Dinner will be prepared by Vivek Surti of VEA Supper Club and Karl Worley of Biscuit Love Truck. We'll begin with beaten biscuits and toppings followed by a plate lunch inspired by Southern American and Indian traditions ending with a cardamom buttermilk pie. Program will be led by Susannah Felts of The Porch: A Writers' Collective and food writer Jennifer Justus.
Throughout the event, attendees will be able to bid on old school newspaper racks that have been repainted and repurposed. These are one-of-a-kind hand painted and designed by local Nashville artists. There will 10 racks to bid on! You're gonna want one of these, trust us!
