NASCAR & Student Conservation Association (SCA) Earth Day Service Project
Monday, April 22, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM (CDT)
In honor and celebration of the Kansas City Speedway STP 400 and Earth Day, the Student Conservation Association (SCA) has joined forces with the NASCAR Foundation, UPS, Arbor Day Foundation and its partners for a signature service event at Weston Bend State Park, one of the many wonderful state parks within a short drive from Kansas City.
We invite you to join us in restoring habitat, including removing invasive species and planting native trees, and refurbishing and maintaining some of this park's extensive trails. Weston Bend State Park is a haven for hikers, bikers, and camping and because the park is located along the forested Missouri River corridor, it offers excellent bird watching. More than 179 bird species are found within the park, including hawks, balkd eagles, golden eagles, herons, wood ducks, to name just a few.
Training, tools, materials, and gloves will be provided. Feel free to bring a favorite pair of gloves, if you have them. Volunteers should dress in layers for changing weather, wear long pants and sturdy, closed toe shoes (no sleeveless shirts, please), and bring a water bottle.
Register today! Friends and family are welcome.
Date: Monday, April 22, 2013
Time: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM; event will occur rain or shine.
Where: Weston Bend State Park, Weston, MO.
Additional Info: Parking available on-site. An event t-shirt and lunch will be provided to each participant.
