- LADEE is scheduled to launch at 8:27 p.m. on Sept. 6, and we’ll provide a live broadcast to watch Ames’ spacecraft launch to the moon!

NASA’s LADEE observatory is a small robotic mission that will orbit Earth’s moon to gather detailed information about the lunar atmosphere, conditions near the surface and environmental influences on lunar dust. LADEE will also demonstrate NASA’s first dedicated laser communication system. And if all goes according to schedule, we’ll watch a live televised broadcast of LADEE being launched to the moon from NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia on Sept. 6, 2013!
NOTE: If LADEE’s launch is cancelled or a postponed, this event will still occur on Sept. 6 and will not be re-scheduled for the next launch attempt. Since this is an outdoor evening event, please wear appropriate attire (Bring a chair, blanket, etc.).

Your entry into, continued presence on, or exit from, this installation is contingent upon your consent to inspection of person and property. (14 C.F.R. 1204.1003)
Unauthorized introduction of weapons or dangerous materials is prohibited
Unless specifically authorized by NASA, you may not carry, transport, introduce, store, or use firearms or other dangerous weapons, explosives or other incendiary devices or other dangerous instruments or material likely to produce substantial injury or damage to persons or property. (14 C.F.R. 1204.1003)
Possession of firearms or dangerous weapons is strictly prohibited
Except as specifically authorized by federal law, whoever knowingly possesses or causes to be present a firearm or other dangerous weapon in a federal facility, or attempts to do so, shall be fined or imprisoned up to 1 year or both. (18 U.S.C. § 930(a))
Whoever with intent that a firearm or other dangerous weapon be used in the commission of a crime, knowingly possesses or causes to be present such firearm or dangerous weapon in Federal facility or attempts to do so shall be fined or imprisoned up to 5 years or both. (18 U.S.C. § 930(b))
Pursuant to California Health and Safety Code section 25284, this installation is certified compliant for upgrades to all underground storage tank facilities. (California Certificate #00956)

NASA's Ames Research Center
NASA's Ames Research Center, located at Moffett Field, California, was founded Dec. 20, 1939, as an aircraft research laboratory by the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) and in 1958 it became part of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
Ames, one of 10 NASA field installations, is located in the heart of California's Silicon Valley at the core of the research cluster of high-tech companies, universities and laboratories that define the region's character. With over $3 billion in capital equipment, 2,300 research personnel and a $600 million annual budget, Ames' economic impact is significant. Ames plays a critical role in virtually all NASA missions in support of America's space and aeronautics programs.
As a leader in information technology research with a focus on supercomputing, networking and intelligent systems, Ames conducts the critical R&D and develops the enabling technologies that make NASA missions possible. Ames also is a leader in nanotechnology, fundamental space biology, biotechnology, aerospace and thermal protection systems, and human factors research. Ames research in astrobiology focuses on the effects of gravity on living things, and the nature and distribution of stars, planets and life in the universe.
In addition, Ames works collaboratively with the FAA, conducting research in air traffic management to make safer, cheaper and more efficient air travel a reality. Ames engages in information and education outreach, forms collaborative partnerships, and fosters commercial application of NASA technologies.
