NAPW Chicago Chapter Workshop: Emergency Response
Friday, January 24, 2014 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM (CST)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
Topic: Emergency Response - What you can do to prepare you and your family for an emergency situation, or mandatory evacuation.
Host: Ms. Dana Motley, Deputy Director, Chicago Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Northwestern University, Masters in Public Policy and Public Administration
Disasters can happen at any time. Be prepared to take action before, during and after. In today's world, there is a reality of the average person or family to have to wait 72 hours for directions and emergency response personnel to arrive at one's home after a disaster. Our government strongly recommends each person become educated about options for "shelter in place" and when to evacuate for all disasters, natural or man-made. Winner of Northwestern's 2010 Outstanding Leadership Award of the Year, Deputy Director Dana Mötley works with the City of Chicago's Office of Emergency Management to manage more than 300 volunteers for the city's civilian emergency response team (CERT). In addition Ms. Mötley teaches emergency response, disaster psychology and counterterrorism at Malcolm X and Truman College. Currently Ms. Mötley is developing the City of Chicago's Community Emergency Response Council (CERC), a nonprofit organization and consulting team to provide education, training and disaster response techniques to the citizens and businesses throughout the Chicagoland area.
