Mountain View High School Creek Bug Sampling

Please note: the date, time and place of sampling are all subject to last minute change due to weather and creek conditions. Please check your email for late notifications or call 408-857-6781 for confirmation.

Who: This event is only open to biology students in the classes of Teri Faught, Go Sasaki and Sarah Macway as an optional addition to their in-class study of aquatic habitat quality in Adobe and Permanente Creeks. All students under the age of 18 must bring a signed waiver to particpate. Questions can be directed to Joanne McFarlin joannem@acterra.org

What: Student volunteers will help collect samples of benthic macroinvertebrates and physical habitat data.

Where: Permanente Creek at Rancho San Antonio Preserve. The exact meeting place will be sent to you closer to the event. 

When: 9:00 - 12:00, please arrive a few minutes early.

Please bring: A reusable water bottle and a snack. Dress for working in the creek. We will have a certain number of waders available, but the wearing of boots/sandals and pants suitable for use in the creek is advised.  Minors under 18 must bring a waiver form signed by a parent.

If after you have registered, you find you cannot attend, please contact joannem@acterra.org so that your place will be available for another student.
