Music in the Vineyards @ Merryvale Vineyards
Wednesday, August 8, 2012 from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM (PDT)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
We’ve assembled an all-star ensemble of wind players from America’s great
orchestras. Hear some gems of the woodwind quintet literature in the warm
acoustics of Merryvale Vineyards' impressive barrel room. Miguel del Aguila’s Quintet was awarded a Kennedy Center Friedheim Award for excellence in chamber music composition.
The program includes an Artist Talk, called "The Inside Story," with Artistic Director Michael Adams, who will discuss the woodwind quintet genre: “A Composers Challenge”. This talk is free to concert goers.
Performances include the Woodwind Quintet, Samuel Barber: Summer Music
Miguel del Aguila: Woodwind Quintet no. 2, Farkas: 17th Century Dances from
Old Hungary, Irving Fine: Partita for wind quintet, and Julio Medaglia: The Gilded Age in South America.
Enjoy a complimentary glass of Merryvale Vineyards wine at intermission!
