Event Details

Musae is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year! Under the direction of Ben Johns, the season will culminate with a unique program entitled “Women Who Changed History.” The program will feature songs by women composers and works written for elite female groups from a variety of eras. The repertoire will range from Renaissance madrigals composed for the first professional women’s vocal ensemble to contemporary pieces such as “More Than a Paycheck” by Sweet Honey in the Rock’s Ysaye Barnwell.

Musae

Musae is a women's vocal ensemble based in San Francisco. The group takes its name from the original "ladies of song," the classic nine muses of Greek mythology. Since its founding in 2004, Musae has performed diverse and accessible music throughout the Bay Area, and continues to stretch the boundaries of traditional repertoire for women's voices.
